QUENTIN Cooper - described by The Times as “the world’s most enthusiastic man” will be giving at lecture at the Kings School, Ely, at the end of the month.
Quentin is the presenter of BBC Radio 4’s weekly programme The Material World and the subject of the Osmond Lecture on February 24 will be: ‘scientists changed the world – why can’t they change their image’?
The lecture, which takes place in the school’s Hayward Theatre, will be the 30th annual Osmond Lecture. It is given in memory of Leonard Osmonds, who taught science at the school from 1930 until his retirement in 1970. He died in 1987.
Quentin is an expert on everything from pop music to astrophysics and studied psychology and artificial intelligence at Edinburgh University from 1979-83, before joining BBC Radio Scotland as a news trainee in 1985. The Material World is the UK’s most listened to science programme. Quentin said: “I’m a passionate believer that science is a perspective rather than a subject and that with the right approach everyone can engage with it at some level.”
